ShearShare is about access over ownership, community over competition.
Tye and Courtney Caldwell are tech visionaries whose goal is to disrupt the $265 billion beauty industry. Together, they are American businessmen, philanthropists, and entrepreneurs whose aim is to help beauty professionals build efficient, passion-filled businesses.
Individually, Tye is a #1 best-selling author on how to achieve long-term success in the beauty and style industry. A recognized beauty expert with more than 20 years of experience in salon and barbershop operations, company culture, customer retention, and team building, he is often called upon to speak at cosmetology and barber schools nationwide. His award-winning salon in Dallas, Texas, is the backdrop for “behind the chair” business workshops, how-to beauty seminars, mentoring sessions, and one-on-one business coaching.
Prior to cofounding ShearShare with her husband, Courtney fast-tracked international sales and marketing success for brands such as Zendesk, Zenefits, and Qualtrics. She has spent the last two decades building winning teams as the vice president of marketing for Marketing Advocate, global director of Oracle’s worldwide digital marketing strategy and innovations group, and head of digital demand generation and JAPAC field marketing at RightNow Technologies. Courtney’s leadership in demand and revenue generation at RightNow Technologies was instrumental in the $1.45B acquisition of the company.
ShearShare was born out of shear necessity. When Tye expanded his salon several years ago, he noticed a shifting trend away from the industry standard: instead of signing up cosmetologists and barbers under long-term contracts, he started to receive inquiries for day leases of his suites. Looking to recoup the investment for his salon remodel, he decided to host the visiting cosmetologists and charge them on a per-day basis. After numerous requests from both out-of-state and in-city stylists, the idea for ShearShare was born!
ShearShare was the only Texas startup invited to exhibit at the 2016 Startup Grind Global Conference.
ShearShare is used by recent beauty and barber school graduates, seasoned industry veterans, mobile hairdressers, and celebrity stylists alike.
Their platform is made up of salon, spa, and barbershop inventory from more than 190 cities and 8 countries.
