Name & Age:
Jaclyn Mittman, 28
Executive Assistant in the video game industry and the writer behind the fashion and lifestyle blog, Pretty Petals.
A little background:
I'm a born and raised Southern California girl who recently moved to Dallas a year ago and is loving it. From the people, to the food, I fall in love with this city more and more every day. I've been blogging since 2010 and what started as a beauty blog has turned into a full lifestyle blog featuring posts on style, beauty, interiors and life showing you how to make the mundane just a little more fabulous one day at a time.
Beauty regimens and tips?
My beauty regimen consists of a daily 25 minute process. Yes, I'm one of those women that enjoys putting on a full face of makeup every day! At night, I generally use makeup removing wipes (I swear by Costco's Kirkland wipes!) and about 2-3 times a week I'll use my Clarisonic to refresh my skin with brightening cleanser to get that "inner glow".
I'm also an avid moisturizer user and always apply some morning and night. To really make my skin glow, I mix MAC Strobe Cream with my foundation for the perfect amount of shine.
What are your fav local DFW beauty brands or beauty related services?
I recently had 11 inches of hair chopped off at Tangerine Salon in Preston Hollow and I can honestly say it was one of the best hair salon experiences I've ever had. Shout out to Marshall Hatley for any of you ladies who are looking to revamp their do! I also love Pouf Blowout at Mockingbird Station for their creative braiding and styling skills. For any skin-related services, I only trust Skintastic in Uptown - see Karen for laser hair removal, she's phenomenal!
Must-have summer accessories?
My all-time favorite accessory for summer is hats - you can never have too many! From wide brimmed boater styles (currently obsessed with Lack of Colour) and the straw fedora, I can't get enough of either style.
Favorite local dessert spot of the moment?
If you could have dinner with any local DFW woman, who would it be?
I would die a happy woman if I had the opportunity to have dinner with Jane Aldridge of Sea of Shoes. I've been following her for years now and I love that she truly sticks to her own sense of style, pays no attention to trends and wears some of the most fascinating and unique articles of clothing and shoes I have ever seen. She truly stands out from the rest and just to have the opportunity to dine with her and listen to her stories of life and travels would be an absolute delight.
Any last words or bits of inspiration for our DFW beauties?
"Be your own kind of beauty".
There are always trends on what is believed to be beautiful, but I firmly believe that you need to do what is right for you to feel beautiful. Listen to your own instincts when it comes to what looks good on you. Because at the end of the day, if you feel beautiful, you'll look beautiful. It's true when they say confidence is key. Own your self and your true beauty will shine from within. Cheesy? Maybe. But in today's day and age with women always down on themselves and other women putting down other women, my glass goes up in the air to those that choose to feel beautiful every day instead of putting themselves or others down. Cheers!
