Name & Age:

Andrea Overturf, 35

Professional Title:

Fitness + Style Blogger at Loubies and Lulu / Mom to Marisa (12) and Andrew (4)

A little background:

Originally from Taos, New Mexico, I’ve proudly called Dallas home for 12 years.  I’ve been married 14 years to my high school sweetheart, Ryan. He’s my true love and best friend!  For us, fitness is a family affair, and we are passionate about living a healthy life.  Ryan is a founder of The Move Project, which specializes in personal training and Muscle Activation Technique (MAT).  And of course, he is a contributing fitness expert on Loubies and Lulu!  I started my blog in 2012, as a creative space to share my love of being active, and to (hopefully!) inspire others to live a healthy life.   I truly believe there is something out there fitness-wise for everyone, its just a matter of finding what works best for you.

I also believe that taking care of your body/wellness does wonders for your mind and stress levels.

As a busy mom of two, I can surely attest to that!  And, wearing activewear you feel fabulous in never hurts either…never underestimate the power of cute workout clothes to make you want to break a sweat!

Beauty regimens and tips?

For me, consistent workouts and following a (mostly) Paleo diet are the foundation of my beauty regimen.  I make sure to fit exercise into my schedule at least 4-5 times per week.  For gym workouts, I hit The Move Project, or Equinox Preston Hollow when I have my son with me (because they have a super fun Kids Club!)  For classes, we are fortunate to have so many amazing studios in DFW, but a few of my favorites include Beyond Studios, Flywheel, and We Yogis.

I try to stick to organic and natural beauty products when possible, but also use mainstream brands.  My favorite skincare line currently is Tata Harper.

* DFW BEAUTY GUIDE PICK - RESURFACING MASK

I absolutely love Aura Multi Use Stick (for eyes, lips, and cheeks) and Elixir Plumping Lip Gloss from Vapour Organic Beauty. I use them everyday, and both come in gorgeous shades.  Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer has been a makeup bag staple for years.  I curl my lashes with my Shu Uemura curler daily, and am always on the hunt for the perfect mascara.  I haven’t found it yet, but that doesn’t mean its not out there! My top two beauty tips would be to drink lots of water and wear sunscreen, but don’t forget to apply it to your neck, chest, and hands, too!

What are your fav local DFW beauty brands or beauty related services?

I visit Sarah Humphrey at Bella MD for amazing facials, and Nicole at Osgood O’Neil to keep my brows in shape.  Local beauty brand, Susan Posnick Mineral Sunscreen Powder all in one brush is another fave. I keep one in my handbag and gym bag for touch ups on the go!

Must-have spring fashion accessories?

I said I’d never wear them again, but I just got the cutest black patent Birkenstocks from St Bernard Sports, and I’m totally lusting over the new Apple watch.  I also love crossbody handbags for my daytime essentials, currently on the lookout for a new one in a bright color for spring!

If you could have dinner with any local DFW woman, who would it be?

Nancy Nasher Haemisegger, of Northpark Center and the Nasher Sculpture Center.  What the Nashers have created at NorthPark is truly unique, an art museum inside a shopping center (or vice versa!).  I spend my fair share of time there, whether I am shopping, dining, or taking my children to enjoy Bookmarks or playing in the Garden.  I would love to learn more about how her family has shared their sculpture collection and passion for art with the entire city of Dallas.  She has carried on her family legacy in a beautiful way, of making art accessible to all!

Any last words, pieces of wisdom, etc?

Don’t wait for the “right” time to begin something you’re passionate about.  Sometimes, you just have to be willing to jump in, make mistakes, seek help from others, and learn as you go. It’s never too late to learn!
