A recapitulation of this year’s fashion week bespeak a grandiose lineup which included the great, Kanye West, whose collaboration with Adidas Originals sustained mixed reviews, mostly critical, for its aggrandized austerity. In layman’s terms you ask, exaggerated simplicity. Aside from Mr. West’s debut, the unveiling of the Yeezy Boost and baby Nori throwing a twee tantrum on the front row, the runway was swept and the audience swayed by countless collections of glorified garments.
The pearlescent platforms from New York to Paris re-revealed the power of evolution with regard to the modernization of fashion. A few of the most favorable collections were visually influenced by the Eastern European 1700’s era, the romantic and Victorian era of the 1800’s, and the psychedelic art, hippie, and bohemian era of the 1960’s. Eloquently threaded couture pieces ranged from wide hemlines, pelerine collars, shift sleeves, threadbare fabric, crinolines, plunging necklines, lace cuffs, paisley patterns, and color combinations.
The breakout designers that subsequently broke the internet with their unprecedented showcase include; Dolce and Gabbana’s ode to mum’s, Maison Margiela’s hair-raising, beautiful runway creepers, and Naomi Campbell’s stunning strut in a staggering Zac Posen gown. She was like a thief in the night who stole away the show!
Oh, let us not forget the attendees that sparked a social media buzz. For kicks and gigs let’s start with Kim K’s bleached blonde hair (which prompted hilarious Draco Malfoy meme’s), Solange’ and Kelly Rowland’s reunion at Paris Fashion Week, North West and Harper Beckham’s double side of cuteness planted front row, and Kylie Jenner’s debut for Kanye West x Adidas. It has been rumored that she was a replacement for her sister Kendall, but that’s merely speculation. This piece wouldn’t have been complete without a little controversy, its fashion’s middle name.
What were some of your favorite collections?
