Name & Age:
Allison Mitchell, 29
A little background:
I am originally from Dallas and moved back home after living in Chicago for several years. My professional background spans the industries of marketing, culinary, fashion, event planning, and several others. I've spent the last two years building a marketing agency for small businesses here in Dallas, but recently, my handbag line took off, so I formed a business around that. I now run both businesses with an emphasis on the handbags. My goal is to grow the Allison Mitchell brand into a global synonym for minimalist elegance and luxury goods.
Favorite things to do in the DFW?
My husband and I love to go eat at the bar at Hillstone, it's always delicious and has the best people watching! Aside from that, we are homebodies. We like to light a fire and stay in. I cook a lot, so we always have yummy food and lots of wine at our house!
I'm religious about washing my face and applying Philosophy's Micro Delivery Mini Peel Pads to my skin every night. The lactic acid gently exfoliates my sensitive skin while keeping it hydrated. I also love Skinceuticals' Retexturing Activator. I don't like to use too many products. As with minimalism, less is more!
Favorite DFW beauty brands and/or beauty related services?
Rosie Moreno with Rosie's Artistry is my secret makeup weapon. She is so talented and dependable, she gets me ready for headshots, events, photo shoots, whatever I need! Also, Rasheena at LARC Salon is in charge of my hair color. She's been doing my color for five years, and I'm pretty sure I couldn't live without her.
What is your favorite piece from your collection?
From our Fall/Winter 2014 collection, my favorite piece is the marigold bag. It's the first color I ever had produced, and it was the first to sell and get some media attention. I will love that marigold bag until the end of time! From my spring collection, it's looking like my favorite piece will be an incredible bag made out of large scaled Amazonian river fish! Can't wait to roll it out!
Where do you see your brand in the next 3 years?
I'd really like to open my first flagship store in three years. I plan on opening in Dallas, because this is the town that supported my handbags.
I will always put Dallas ladies first!
If you could have dinner with any local DFW woman, who would it be? Why?
Probably Jan Strimple. As an emerging designer, I am always wanting to pick the brains of seasoned professionals in this industry. Also, just to hear the stories of her career would make for a very entertaining and educational dinner!
