TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND, AND HOW GOT INTO THIS FIELD? IS THIS YOUR PASSION?

I started out as a nail artist in 1998. I traveled and competed internationally in the nail pro competition circuit. After winning several awards prize money and being featured in magazines and newspapers all over, I finally settled down and became committed in working in a salon. The salon I was in was a full service spa which did makeup for wedding parties. I was asked to help out with makeup because they were running behind in the wedding party needed to leave. I found that I really enjoyed apply makeup so wanted to do more of it. I went and purchased around $500 worth of makeup which isn't a lot but with that I started answering casting calls and trading just to gain experience. After that the rest is history I was hooked. I love being able to allow people to see themselves differently by enhancing their current beauty.

EXPERT TIPS, TRICKS AND RECOMMENDATIONS?

A clean exfoliated moisturized face is the best canvas.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR BRAND IN 3 YRS?

Expanding into more markets, offering classes and concentrating on print and fine art

WHAT IS IT ABOUT DFW THAT MAKES FOR A GREAT PLACE TO START A BEAUTY FOCUSED BRAND?

I feel like the Dallas-Fort Worth area as it's still an untouched market in a sense because its not as saturated as the New York and LA markets. So, clients and consumers are eager and willing to learn, apply and purchase.

ANY TIPS FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN STARTING A CAREER IN MAKEUP ARTISTRY?

I believe mentoring with a local make up artist whose work you admire, spending time with them learning about different brands and techniques will give you the best opportunity to see if it's something you want to pursue further.

IF YOU COULD MAKEOVER ANYONE, WHO WOULD IT BE, AND WHY?

A deserving woman who never has time to do her own makeup, gets up, works hard for herself and her family and who isn't privy to all the frills of life. The opportunity to take a break and look at herself in a different way would be such an amazing feeling for her as well as for me.
