Tell us a little about your background, and how got into this field? Is this your passion?
It ABSOLUTELY is my passion, one hundred percent! That’s what led me into this field. I have a business degree from NYU and worked in the corporate world for a few years, but I always knew I wanted to branch off and do something on my own. My passion for fitness and entrepreneurial desires led me to Pure Barre - it is the perfect blend of both worlds!
Beauty essentials for clients, and for yourself?
Since I spend a good chunk of my day in the studio, a lightweight, oil free tinted moisturizer is key — something with a small amount of coverage that won’t clog your pores when you’re working out. I personally love Supergoop, but there are a ton of great brands out there. Add a little dash of mascara (waterproof, of course, so it doesn’t run when you sweat!) and you’ve got yourself a perfect Pure Barre look. For meetings, events, or just anything outside of the studio, I’m usually seen rocking Pure Barre’s signature deep red on lips and nails and a good blowout from my neighbors at the Hair Bar.
Expert tips, tricks and recommendations?
Don’t forget about exercise - and more specifically, strength training - as a key part of your beauty routine! Not only is it great for burning fat and toning muscles (which in turn makes you feel better in your skinny jeans!), sweating regularly has great benefits for your overall health and beauty. Plus, there’s something sexy about that post-workout glow, am I right?
Local client love?
Oh gosh, there is no way I could pick a favorite! We've been working with the darling girls at THIS + THAT blog and they've been just so much fun, but we really have the best group of hardworking, dedicated, awesome clients - they’re all my favorites!
Where do you see your brand in 3 yrs?
Pure Barre as a brand has been expanding like crazy in the past year and while I can’t speak for the brand as a whole, I would expect that trend will continue over the next handful of years.
What is it about DFW that makes for a great place to start a beauty, spa and/or wellness related brand?
First of all, it is simply, from a numbers perspective, a huge market! But on top of that, Dallas women are very aesthetically aware — they invest the time, energy, and money into looking and feeling their best — which is the perfect client for beauty, spa, and wellness companies.
Any tips for those interested in starting a career in pure barre?
Become an expert in whatever it is you’re passionate about — barre, yoga, cross-fit, weight lifting, etc — and from there you’ll naturally find yourself falling into opportunities in the field, be it teaching, training, or even starting your own business.
Passion is a powerful thing!
If you could do pure barre with anyone, who would it be, and why?
My former football-player, can’t touch his toes, furthest thing from a dancer husband, Derek. Because it would be HILARIOUS. Maybe one day I’ll finally convince him!
