Professional title:

Founder of The Gents Place

Can you give us a little background and tell us how got into this field?

The short story is that I hated getting my haircut so much, I decided to take things into my own hands and do something about it. I consciously got my haircut twice as short as I wanted so I wouldn't have to go back for twice as long.

Tell us some beauty essentials for clients, and for yourself?

The old school double-edge safety razor is making a comeback and is fundamental to achieving the best shave imaginable for the modern discerning gentleman. Beyond that, many guys think that they can forgo conditioner in their hair, yet it’s absolutely a critical part of mine, and our members' grooming regimen to keep their hair healthy and strong.

Can you share some expert tips, tricks and recommendations?

Oh yeah, make sure to keep an extra pair of tweezers, nail clippers and travel-sized cologne in your car for any unexpected yet important issues/encounters that might arise!

Local client love? Who is your favorite client and why?

Wow, there are so many great members that have been with us for years. Unfortunately, I’m sworn to secrecy releasing names, but I’ll tell you that my favorites in general are the ones that believe in our vision of changing the world through changing our members’ lives for the better. These guys are just as passionate as I am, which I am totally humbled by.

Any men's hair trends for fall/winter you'd like to share with our readers?

There are so many trends out there, and there’s not a one size fits all. I can tell you that coming in more frequently is the best way to achieve your desired look in a consistent way. So, whatever you are going for, make getting your haircut a priority in your life!

When you look and feel your best, you do your best!

Where do you see your brand in 5 yrs?

To put it bluntly, all over the country.

What is it about the Dallas/Ft.Worth metroplex that makes for a great place to start a beauty related business?

First, I am 110% confident that DFW IS the best place in the country to start a beauty related business. Second, DFW is great because we have a dynamic melting pot of trendy, fashion-focused and discerning people that understand that how you show up in the world and to yourself IS your Personal Brand and that this brand is an integral part of your success in business and your relationships. DFW GETS IT!

What's your favorite thing to do in the DFW?

Enjoy a cigar and Scotch with good company just about anywhere it’s allowed!

Any tips for those interested in starting a career in beauty/barbering?

Do NOT get into this business if your primary motive is to make money. DO get into this business if your primary motivation in life is about making people happy. If you get into the business for the right reason, you will get filled up every day and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. It’s REALLY that rewarding when you are helping people look and feel their best and know with absolute certainty that you are changing their lives for the better!

If you could have any client in the world sitting in your chair, who would it be?

Mark Cuban…he has one of the largest personal brands in the world, yet his haircut doesn't match his commitment to excellence.

Come on Mark, you don’t know what you are missing!
