DFW Beauty Bombshell: Amber LaFrance

Name & Age:

Amber LaFrance, 26

Profession:

President + Executive Publicist at CultureHype

A little Background:

For three years, I’ve spearheaded Public Relations and Marketing at my firm (CultureHype), and for the last five, I’ve worked on similar projects through an Austin-based firm Juice Consulting. I love all things fashion, music, art and beauty! I also enjoy donating my time helping local organizations, such as ArtLoveMagic and Dress for Success Dallas. Behind the scenes, I write fun stories about lifestyle and give men tips on how to treat women in Blitz Weekly. During my off time, I cuddle up with my Netherland Dwarf bunny, Ziggy Stardust, and indulge in Netflix marathons.

What are some of your favorite things to do in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area?

Wine bars! Or live music. An ideal night is combining both of those things into one!

Do you have any beauty regimens you'd like to share with us?

It’s pretty simple (and low-cost!) I have T-zone oiliness and dryness everywhere else, so I always wash my face morning and night with Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Oil Free Acne Cleanser, then use Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner, Hard Night Good Morning Eye Cream, and Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum with SPF 15.

I don’t shy away from drug store alternatives, as long as I have a good eye cream on-hand!

A weekly deep clean with my Clarisonic always clears up any blemishes. For makeup, I’m newly obsessed with the sheer tint of YSL’s Touche Éclat foundation and absolutely love anything Make Up For Ever! I recently took a contouring class at the North Park location and walked away with an armful of goodies: their Full Cover Concealer, Sculpting Kit (for gorgeous cheekbones), HD Pressed Powder and HD Microfinish Powder.

Hey, when they offer a discount after the class, it's hard to pass up! I love Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara in Black Satin, it strengthens your lashes and makes them long and gorgeous. My favorite look is a fresh face and a bold lip. I love Rouge Dior Lipstick in both Trafalgar and Blazing Red.

I also recently discovered that Anthropologie makes a line of Albeit lipsticks inspired by the ladies of Old Hollywood; Claret and Mauvette are now always in my purse.

Beauty tips for living in DFW?

Always bring backups! Seriously. I bring my HD powders with me everywhere, especially in the warmer months when makeup seems to just melt off. I like to touch up before meetings and events. A good lip liner is also key in this weather. Use it as a lipstick base, not just to line your pout.

What are some of your go-to beauty brands, right here in the DFW?

I love the natural ingredients and scents that Hard Night Good Morning uses; founder D’Andra Simmons hand picks each ingredient herself, and she still looks youthful and gorgeous in her 40s! I really love her Eye Cream and Facial Cocktail Serum.

Okay, tell us, are you a wine or champagne girl?

Wine all the way! Champagne is tasty, but it tends to give me a headache. My boyfriend and I have been trying to swear off champagne; for some reason we get in novella-esque fights when we drink too much of it. I love anything red: Chianti, Cabernet, Petit Sirah, Tempranillo…

If you could have dinner with any local DFW woman, who would it be?

Well, I do have dinner with this particular woman often, but I’d have to say Lisa Petty of DFW Style Daily. She’s incredibly sharp, talented and funny. Her tenacity and work ethic continues to amaze me on a daily basis. I also admire her drive to inspire and offer advice to others in the industry, such as myself. I would consider her a mentor of mine!

Any inspirational advice, words of wisdom for local career-driven DFW gals?

“Create your own job. Become the master of what you do. Fully immerse yourself in your culture. Be humble. You are never above having to pack boxes. Never forget where you came from. And always be polite. Good old-fashioned manners can get you very far.” - Jenne Lombardo.

I recently read this in Sophia Amuroso’s book #GIRLBOSS and was genuinely inspired by her words of wisdom and unconventional rise to the top.
